St.Charles (Illinois) Review, Sept. 12, 1879:
Major Van Patten has bought the Pioneer Drug Store of D.L. Zabriskie. Six years ago the Major sold to Mr. Z. the same business. The new proprietor is a gentleman and a thorough druggist. His son, Dr. Louis Van Patten will be prescription clerk. We wish for the new regime success. Mr. Zabriskie has not yet decided upon his future occupation.
