COULD THE FOLLOWING MARTHA BE the same as: (Martha, b. 1842-place unknown-family in the KY, IL & Indiana area)
Would anyone know? If so, she would of been 26 yrs old at time of this marriage???
The following Biographical sketch was copied from the book "HISTORY AND BIOGRAPHY COUNTIES OF WHITE AND PULASKI, INDIANA. Historical and Biographical. Illustrated. Chicago; F.A. Battey & Co., Publishers. 1883.
page 712, Indian Creek Township, Pulaski County, Indiana.
"JACOB C. HOOVER a native of Seneca County, Ohio, was born April 7, 1837, and is the sixth of a family of thirteen children born to PETER and MARY A. (HOOVER) HOOVER, natives of Lorraine, France. JACOB C. HOOVER is largely self-educated, and is possessed of more than ordinary mental powers. He was reared on his father's farm and in his saw mill until twenty-two years old, and then for fourteen months he worked in La Porte, Indiana, in a saw mill; then by the month on a farm in White County, Indiana, and September 18, 1861, enlisted in Company A, Second Indiana Volunteer Cavalry, or Forty-first Regiment, and served until October 4, 1864, when he was honorably discharged. He participated in the battles of Pittsburg Landing, Perryville, Stone River, Chickamauga and Resaca; also took part in the Atlanta campaign and accompanied GENERAL McCOOK's division in the Stoneman raid. After his discharge, he came to this township and farmed on shares one year, and then bought a partially improved farm of eighty acres, on which he still resides, having increased it to 200 acres. He was married, June 9, 1868, to MARTHA WADDELL, a native of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, and of Irish-Scotch and German descent. To this marriage there have been born seven children, of whom three only are living. MR. HOOVER and wife are members of the German Reformed Church, and in politics he is a Democrat."
