It appears Harlan, who married Sarah, died in the Civil War.
I am researching Mary who had the middle initial of W. and told a relative that it stood for Waddel, which was the way her Covenanter ancestor spelled it. We do not know that this is true.
The 1860 census for Wicondah, Davis, IA lists Charles and Harlan. It also lists Mary with her husband, Emsley Park Marsh.
John is not listed and I presume he is dead by then. Daughters Lucetta and Hannah are deceased or married.
In 1856 Harlan is listed as Harlar and is apprentice as a blacksmith in Bloomfield, Davis, IA.
Mary died in Bloomfield, Davis, IA in 1864. Emsly married Sarah Frances Atteberry from Wycondah.
