Hello,
In the 1880 census, George Wachtel, born 1832 and married to Mary Elizabeth Lemke on October 01, 1872 in Olney, Richland County, Illinois, listed his place of birth as "ELKSA." I can only assume this location has something to do with (a) the Lutheran Church and/or (b) a location in what is now Germany but in the early 19th century could have been part of Austria/Hungary/Bavaria. Would any of you fellow Wachtel researchers have any idea where or what "ELKSA" is, and (fingers crossed on this one) if you have the names and dates for his parents, both of whom were born in Germany.
