I am the great-gr-gr-granddaughter of William Bell born 1829in ? Ohio and married in 1883, Holmes County to Margaret Shipley b 1820 in Virginia, Eight children -told in 1983 by retired Holmes County extension agent Bill McNutt still Amish Bells and Shipleys in Holmes County today. William Bell's mother was Barbara Wachtel, a Quaker from North Carolina and Married to ? Bell. I the 8 childrens names. John Wachtel Bell, my great grandfather b.January 5,1845 in Millersburg, married Mary Brown Carr b.March 5,1849 and she died February 6,1912. John lived with my father's parents and died on our family farm in Richwood, Ohio September 30,1923.
#2 Lydia- married ?, moved to Iowa then widowed with two sons. one a Dr. in Chicago, the other in insurance
#3 Dallas- married, three children, lived in Canton one son, Ray Bell was a mail carrier in Michigan
#4 Nathan- married, four children, died young, onr daughter. Anna worked for a Gill family in Millersburg who were related to the Richwood Gills
#5 Margaret Ann- married a farmer in Holmes Co and had six or seven children
#6 Martha- married ? Petterman and lived in Holmes Co no children
#7 Alice- was born around 1865, died around 1950. in her 40's, she married a widower named Nihart with two sons, one became a Dr. Alice was widowed and married ? Bailey who died before 1935. My grandmother inherited her Bibled and a little money- I have her Bible
