Hi there Connie, I'm so glad to hear from you. I have thought of contacting more of Uncle Early's (Early was my Great Uncle, my grandfather Monroe's twin brother) relatives in Evansville but just have not had a chance to. Billie would be my mom's cousin. My mom (age 70) still lives in Evansville and she has talked to a couple of the relatives for me. One being my great Aunt Mattie's son and my mom's cousin, Vestil. And the second being Uncle Early's wife. The only information that I really got from them was a couple of old pictures. So I would love to hear what your husband has on the Vailes Family. I have collected a lot of information myself from finding Vailes Descendents on the internet and would be happy to share what I have also. I have heard that Early's sister Mary Lou had done a lot of family research too but I have not been able to find out if anyone in the family would have her papers. One thing that I have been trying to find out is the story throughout the family that the Vailes were Galloway's. The story goes that I believe that William Henry H. Vailes born about 1841 was born a Galloway but because of his home life he ran away and went to live with a Vailes family and took their name. I would love to find some documentation on this. That's as far back in the history that I have. William Henry H. Vailes was married to Mary Elizabeth Weaver. She is buried in Dickson, TN in Dickson Cemetery and I believe that he probably is too but there is only a field stone next to her grave. No marker. Anyway, I would love to find out what information you have. Thanks again for contacting me. Take Care, Shirley Dusinberre Huntsville, AL Notify Administrator about this message?
