Continuing to look for information on John William Vailes born 1855 supposedly in IN. His death certificate states parents unknown. What we have been told is he was orphaned at an early age. Supposedly his father was shot by men trying to steal his sheep and the last thing he remembers is his mother crying and the kids being taken away. John is found in Webster Co. in 1870 with a family named Martin. The descendents of John Martin do not know anything about him but I thought maybe he was a relative. He also had a brother named Henry but they were seperated. Henry was supposed to have had a family in ILL that was killed by a tornado and that Henry worked on bridges.John WIlliam Vailes married Fannie Braden in Webster Co. Co. Obviously, a lot of this is hearsay, but if any of this connects or you want further information let me know.
