Louisa V. Taber was a daughter of Eliza (Jones) and Abraham Taber, natives of Wales/Aurora in Erie County, New York. They removed to Kalamazoo County, Michigan, about 1838, and were likely living there in Texas Township when Louisa was born in 1844. Circumstantial evidence suggests that Abraham Taber was a son of Susanna (Brightman) and Earle Taber, who were born and raised in the vicinity of present-day Adamsville, Rhode Island. They migrated to New York in 1789. Abraham was probably born in Galway or Providence in Saratoga County, before the family moved to Wales in Erie County. Earle Taber is a Mayflower descendant of Richard Warren and Francis Cooke. Abraham had a large family, and has many living descendants. To date, no one has published satisfactory proof of the presumed father-son relation between Earle and Abraham Taber. Louisa's mother, Eliza (Jones) Taber, was adopted into the family of Calvin Fillmore of Aurora, New York, an uncle of President Millard Fillmore. The parents of Eliza (Jones)Taber have not been identified. Perhaps she is related to the Jones family which took in her son, Moses K. Taber. When he was President, Millard Fillmore wrote a letter inquiring concerning the revolutionary war pension application of Earle Taber, who filed as an officer (Lieutenant) with extensive revolutionary service. They must have known each other when Millard Fillmore was practicing law in Aurora, New York. I also noticed that you've posted some interesting 19th Century family photos through an ancestral file online. You identify Louisa (Taber) Bell as one of two sisters posing in a studio photo. The resemblance is remarkable. I believe the other lady, who is not identifed, likely is Mary Taber, a sister three years younger than Louisa.
