The Taber Genealogy published privately by Anna and Albert Wright in Ithaca NY in 1957 (vol. II, Descendants of Joseph and Philip, Sons of Philip Taber) places Hicks Taber of Duanesburg as the son of John O. and Deborah (____) Taber. John O. Taber came to Duanesburg with his parents, Gideon and Sarah (Hicks) Taber of Westport, Mass. Gideon was a blacksmith and revolutionary war veteran who enlisted at age 14, serving under Captain William Hicks, and alongside Gabriel Hicks. According to census records, Gideon's grandson Hicks Taber was born circa 1808, and from 1855-1875 was listed with wife Elvira. The "Camel" you list may be Campbell, as Hicks' sister Mary married a Campbell from Duanesburg, although the 1860 census lists in Hicks' household his mother-in-law, "Wrest Stuart." Hicks is listed with 7 children, including Henry C. Taber, b. 1845, d. 1925, married Charlotte T. _____, b. 1845, d. 1907 (births and deaths from Esperance Cemetery). They are listed with 10 children, including Edward W. Taber, b. circa 1866, who apparently was a quarryman, and obtained a divorce in 1899 in Schoharie County.
