George Bridenbaugh - Spanish American War

My Grandfather - George Franklin Bridenbaugh (may have been born Breidenbach) served in the Spanish American war. He lived in Chester County Pennsylvania at the time, so would have enlisted near there.
I remember that he had this HUGE tattoo of a ship on his chest and an anchor on his arm - if this is a clue.
He was a member of the LONELY HEARTS CLUB and received letters from my grandmother during the war. They fell in love through the mail and met and married after the war. Her name was Luella Owens and she lived in Logansport, Indiana at the time. Any information or leads on how I can find George's records in the war would be appreciated. Thank you.
Rick
