There is speculation that Mary Elizabeth Jones (born bet. 1806-1810) who was James Abijah Simmons' first spouse is the same person as Mary (Polly) Jones that was James Wesley Rains' wife. I wonder if Mary Elizabeth is correct since James Abijah's next wife is also a Mary Elizabeth; maybe she is Mary (Polly). Also, there is speculation that she and James Abijah had a common law marriage since he was listed on a birth certificate as father on only one child with Mary. A couple of other children are listed as supposed to be in the household. Maybe they separated and she then married James Wesley Rains.
