Since, this posting that you responded to I found out from looking through the Vermont Archives that John Rabtoy's parents were Lewis Rabtoy/Robtoy and Emily Coustau. I recently found an 1860 census record for Lewis and Emily Rabitau that lived in Enosburgh, Vermont. Lewis and Emily Robtoy appear in the 1880 census records for Braintree, Vermont. The ages match up and for Lewis and Emily from both census records and the names of the children in the 1860 census record are some that John and Mary Rabtoy used in naming their own children. Do you have any information on any Lewis Rabitau or similar spelling? I do know that he was born in Canada according to the census record.
