My maternal grandmother was born in 1886, nee Annie Rabinowitz. Her father, Abraham Rabinowitz, was from the Ukraine and entered the U.S. around 1906. Abraham and his wife, Frieda Lake (1856-1937), while living in Ekaterinoslav, were -- of all things -- pig farmers.
