I have been wondering about that, too. There are times that the person was away from home and didn't get counted when the enumerator was there, other times the person was gone and was counted. I am descended from John Quarterman b.1750 in York Co. PA. I believe there is a relationship between John and William, just don't have it together yet, but looking, too.
