Shannon; You and I are second cousins, twice removed. Thank you for sending the Krossman information. This helps a lot! Here is the information I've gathered since the old posting I placed that you just answered.... JOSEPH KROSSMAN, born 1866 Czechoslovakia, died April 04, 1940, married BARBARA UNKNOWN about 1891 in Dickinson, Stark County, North Dakota. Barbara was born 1866 in Czechoslovakia and died after 1930. 1930 Scio, Linn County, Oregon Census: (Note spelling of CROSSMAN) Crossman, Joe, Head, Owns home, Age 65, Married at age 20, Born Czechoslovakia, Parents born Czechoslovakia, Language: Czech, Farmer Crossman, Barbara, Wife, Age 65, Married at age 20, Born Czechoslovakia, Parents born Czechoslovakia, Language: Czech Crossman, Tony, Son, Age 27, Born Czechoslovakia, Parents born Czechoslovakia, Laborer, Sawmill Crossman, Laudie, Son, Age 25, Born Czechoslovakia, Truck driver, Sawmill Crossman, Henry, Son, Age 22, Born Czechoslovakia, Laborer, Lumber yard Crossman, Frank, Son, Age 20, Born North Dakota, Fireman, Steam engine Crossman, Adolph, Son, Age 15, Born North Dakota ________________________ Children of JOSEPH KROSSMAN and BARBARA are: 1) MARY KROSSMAN, b.3/15/1892, Dickinson, Stark Co., ND, died April, 1979 (death date not proven) 2) CHRISTINE KROSSMAN, b.7/24/1900, Scio, Linn Co., OR, died March, 1977 (death date not proven) 3) ANTON "Tony" KROSSMAN, b.7/10/1902, Czechoslovakia, died September, 1963 (death date proven, SS death Index) 4) LAUDIE KROSSMAN, b.7/27/1904, Czechoslovakia, died November, 1981 (death date proven, SS Death Index) 5) HENRY KROSSMAN, b.7/16/1909, Czechoslovakia, died February, 1986, Winchester City, Virginia (ssdi) 6) FRANK KROSSMAN, b.1/29/1911, North Dakota, died February, 1967, Coos Bay, Oregon, drown in fishing accident. Married about 1931 to VIOLET "Viola" QUARRY, daughter of Charles W. "Charlie" Quarry and Dimple Irene Treadway (my grandmother's sister). I have heard that Violet Quarry-Krossman died in Jolly's car in the 1960s. I do not know this for a fact, but it's what my mom told me long ago. I have pictures of Frank, Jolly, Violet, Danny Lee and Buddy. Will gladly send copies to you. 7) ADOLPH KROSSMAN, b.8/21/1914, North Dakota, died October, 1974 (ssdi). _____________________ According to the above 1930 census, it looks like Joseph Krossman and wife, Barbara came to the US before 1892, in which their daughter MARY was born in North Dakota. CHRISTINE was born in 1900, Scio, OR. Then, it seems they went back to Czechoslovakia between 1902 and 1911 and had kids TONY, LAUDIE and HENRY. Then back to North Dakota to have kids FRANK and ADLOPH. There's also a bit of confusion over the marriage year for Joseph Krossman and wife, Barbara. In the 1930 census it states that they were both married first at age 20, which would have been 1886. No kids are with them that were born before 1892, so they may have been married to different people prior to marrying each other. In 1930, Violet Quarry (Frank Krossman's future wife) is living two dwellings away from the Krossman's. Also in 1930, my mother, aunt and grandmother are living in Scio. Mom's step-dad, Fritz Logan, is working at the same Lumber Yard as Tony, Laudie and Henry Krossman. Grandma's brothers, Paul & Clem Treadway, are working as fireman for the steam railroad, probably the same place that Frank Krossman is working. I have a lot of added information that I would rather give you privately (lots of current dates of living people that I don't want to put onto a public forum). Please Email me directly at hhairbrn@yahoo.com and I will gladly share the info I've been given by my other cousins in Oregon. My Grandmother, Leona, (also known as "Grandma Babe") is buried at Port Orford Cemetery in the "Krossman Plot"! Please Email me directly as soon as you can. I have so much to share!
