My Grandfather, William Cecil Parton, told my mother, Helen M. Parton, that his Grandfather was Quantrill. My mother had never heard of Quantrill. She went to school the next day and checked out encyclopedias and read about him. She even later saw a movie about "Quantrill's Raiders." She was in High School here at Achille, OK at the time. William Cecil didn't tell his wife about Quantrill until after they were married. I've also been told that Quantrill married Sarah Jane Thomas in Louisianna. We've been told he was buried in Texas, either in the town of Cooper, or under the name of Cooper.
