William Clarke Quantrill changed his last name to Parton. Had a son, Lee Ewing Parton, who had a son, William Cecil Parton. He in turn had a daughter, Helen Mozelle Parton, who is my mother. Therefore, Quantrill would be my great, great grandfather. This is a story I've heard all my life. Quantrill married Sarah Jane Thomas, who had been married, or was married 7 times. She was said to have been born a Thomas, and died a Thomas. She is buried here in Achille, OK.
