Hello! My husband and I have started to look into his family tree - his mother being a Quantrill. The furthest back is Robert Quantrill, gamekeeper, born circa 1822 and his son was Herbert George Quantrill born in Sturston who married Isabel Kate Freeman and his son was Herbert Robert Quantrill. They ended up in Finchley, London and Canada.
We've recently been contacted by a gentleman who has excited us with a connection to Thomas Quantrill who was born in Merton and his father also Thomas. We are exchanging information and I noticed you when I went up to the postings that you have a connection with the Quantrills. Do you have any connection with this family or know where abouts the name came from? It is rumoured that they were Hugenots but I don't see the name in any of the books that I have researched.
