Sherry, Thanks for your reply. You are right. This is the link that joins the Quam family to the Kennedys of Ashland. I went back into the census and verified your info regarding the Edwards family, attached below.
Victor J and Janette had a son Victor W Quam who was born in Ashland. I am now in contact with his son in southern California who tells me that
"My Father grew up in Ashland but never knew my mother when they were both growing up there, but he DID know some of her brothers.
He came to California around 1929 and some of my mother's brothers were already here so he Bob, Albert, Allan and Wallace Kennedy traveled in the same social circles in the Los Angeles area for a couple of years before Albert and Wally headed for pastures in the Bay area. My mother followed her brothers out here around 1932 and met my father at a party a Bob's house."
These brothers are of the Kennedy family of Ashland. Actually both Alice's parents were Kennedys, from different branches of Scots and Highlanders, of the McDonald clan. Lumbermen. Victor met Alice Kennedy later in Los Angeles, though they both grew up in Ashland.
