Mike,

I found Anderson Quait and Mary A. Quait, both born in Virginia on the 1850 census in Clay County, Indiana with two children, Eliza J. age 3 and Hanna A, age 5/12. I was never able to find Anderson Quait in 1860, but I did find Mary A. Quait, born in Virginia, with Eliza J., age 13, Ann, age 10, George W. age 6 and Monrow, age 4. All of the children were born in Indiana. In 1870 Anderson Quait is found in Randolph County, Illinois, with wife, Sarah Jane, and 4 children, Margaret, 8, Mary Ann 6, Isaac L. 2 and James 1-1/2, wife and children all born in Illinois. I guess there must have been a divorce somewhere. I imagine this is the family you are looking for.

Mary Ellen
