As far as my research goes, our QUAITE line came from Scotland to Ireland, and then on to various countries at the turn of the century or after. Most were from the Co.Antrim area, growing up in or around Belfast, Ballymena, Broughshane, and Whitehead/Islandmagee. I can't seem to get farther than the great-grandparents of any of the Quaite lines, so am assuming that generation, prior to the 1860's, came from Scotland. Your best source for the QUAIT (no "e" on the end)line is with Peter Quait in the UK, as he has extensive records of names/census. Good luck!
