I am searching a Quail family from County Down, Northern Ireland, which had roots in the Isle of Man. Perhaps you can help me and there is a tie-in with your William. The first I know is a Robert Quail, (b. guess 1755+), County Down, Ireland. Somewhere along the line the first family settlement was made in Erie Co. Pa. Robert had a son John, b. 1784 (from History) Fayette Co. Pa. John married Susannah/Susan Baker, guess about 1817. Dec. 1835 John & Susan went to Holmes Co. Ohio. John was a Veteran of the War of 1812, was a farmer & schoolteacher. John & Susan's known 5 children:1-John Quail, Jr. b. 1818, Pa. 2-Samuel Quail b. 1821,Penn. 3-Robert Quail b. 29 June 1823, Westmoreland Co. Pa. 4-Harrison Quail b. 1827, Westmoreland Co. Pa. 5-Susannah Quail b. Pa. All 5 married Holmes Co. Ohio and went to Sac County Iowa. (John, Jr. married Mary Ann Burger. Samuel married Mary Ann. Robert married Rebecca Lepley. Harrison married Julia Ann Keiger. Susannah married Levi Reynolds.) From the History it stated John , Sr. b.. 1784, died Porter Co. Indiana. I can't find documentation. Any help appreciated.
