Hi,
My GGGGrandfather was a ships rigger that originally came from the Isle of Mann ( John Quail) where my GGGrandfather Charles was born. Charles came to Australia as a ships Captain he married a girl in Melbourne, Victoria and hence my family in Australia.
I have not been able to trace John Quail in Canada.
As they were certainly a family of sailors it is very feasible that a shipwreck could have occurred.
Do you have any other details?
