Parsons-Ostrander CT 1790's

I am at a brick wall. My second g-grandfather's name was William Lawrence Parsons, who married Olive Ostrander. The Salisbury town hall marriage record shows that William's father was Alexander, born in Southington. I surmise Alexander's birth date was about 1793, he is buried in Norfolk and died 1850. Southington doesn't have birth records going back to the 1790's and I cannot find birth record for him at the Hartford Genealogy Library. Then, according to the Ostrander Big Book, William's father is listed as Joseph A. I would almost think it is Joseph Alexander, but Alexander's headstone is inscribed Alexander P. Parsons. Can anyone help?? Thank you.
