Hello Lois. The only information I have so far is that Jesse Pace married Martha Norvell on 27 Nov 1843, and that Temple Bailey was bondsman. Bond lists Martha as daughter of Thomas W. Norvell, and Jesse as son of Elizabeth Pace.
Since bondsmen were usually related, I'm looking for a connection with the Bailey family.

On the 1850 Albemarle Census, there are 67 Paces, with 5 Jesses. Only one Elizabeth, 42, is just barely old enough to be Jesse's mother, and that's a real stretch as she would have been 14. She is shown on page 262a with an RP Pace, who is 46. Also on 262a are Elizabeth, 8; James 16; John 12; Susan 10; and William 14.

Jesse 28, is shown on p.178a with Martha, also 28, Sarah, age 5 and Martha, age 2.

Thomas W. Norvell, 60, shows up on page 178a with Elizabeth 44, James 13, Joseph 19, Mary E. 10, Naomi 16, and Polk 6, and Cornelia 3.

Also, A (Jesse-?) Pace was a witness at the marriage of Mary (Dolly) Bailey and Henry Lumsden in 1855. They are my 2nd great-grandparents.

Hope this helps. If you find any Baileys, please let me know. Thanks.
