Sorry Joy,

My gr-grandfather, Phillip O'Connor(s), and his parents, Maurice and Mary Pearce O'Connor(s), are the only O'Connor's that I have filled in my family tree!

Phillip immigrated from Ireland in 1878 as stated on the 1900 Census, and I found his parents' names when I found his marriage recorded at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Cole County, Missouri. When he first came to America, Phillip went by Connors as stated in the 1880 Catholic marriage records there. He was still listed as Connors when he and Johannah had their first child, my grandmother. But by the second child they went back to the name O'Connor.

Another generous genealogist, Pat Connor, enlightened me that in Ireland people were made to drop the 'O'. However many went back to their original name of O'Connor when they immigrated to America!! I have checked the Missouri State Archives and they did not find a Phillip Connor being naturalized in Cole County.

I do not have any facts that Phillip came over here with his family, but in the 1880 Missouri Census I find a Phillip Connor listed with the family of John Pierce. It could be his mother's family, but I have not proven that as of this date.
