I would love to restart a thread on Daniel O'Bar and his children. So many of the e-mail addresses are not current of the people who have posted info.
I think my line goes from:
Michael O'Bar b. County Donegal, Fahan, Ireland
Daniel m. Mary "Polly" Hammett
Elizabeth m. Leonard S. Hamilton ca 1827 probably in Anderson Co., SC.
Info obtained from 1978:
Michael O'Barr left the Parish of Fahan in the northernmost part of County Donegal, Ireland sometime prior to the Revolutionary War. His son Hugh was born over there Sept. 4, 1758. Hugh dropped the 'O' from his name. He is listed in the Rev. War soldiers as Hugh Barr, son of Michael O'Barr. He died in Edgar Co., Il in 1842. Michael O'Barr had seven sons with no females named in records to the above date(1978). Michael and sons Daniel and Robert fought in the Rev. War in the 1st North Carolina Regt. They are listed in Colonial and State North Carolina Records; Leverisk's Rev. War Index, Vol.21; in the Army Roll, Vol.15, p731; in the Army Rank, Vol.16 p.237 and in Army Pay, Vol. 17, p1128 (B'Ham Public Library) They served seven, six and five years respectively.
Years ago I went to the GA archives and there was a large loose file of O'Barr research. If anyone has access to the archive and can re-look at this file we may be able to get some answers. At the time I read it I was looking for proof of Elizabeth's parents and did not have time to thoroughly examine the file.
I have the following info on a Daniel but do not know if this is the same Daniel.
Daniel O'Barr received a grant of 640 acres in the Ninety Six District on April 4, 1785 for service in the Revolutionary War. The land was on Ferguson's Creek, a branch of the Tyger River in Spartanburg Co.

If it is then Elizabeth and Mary Ann were probably born in SC rather than TN. Or Daniel sold this land and moved to TN. But why then return to SC? I have more questions now than years ago when I was a newbie to genealogy. I would love to compare notes of what we know and what we suppose with others researching these lines.
