If "twinning" existed in the 1800's, it could be said that Macclesfield, Cheshire, England was twinned with Patterson, NJ, USA. I believe an entrepreneur from the Macclesfield area established a silk weaving business in Patterson. Many Maxonianians followed to work in this factory, probably including one or more Nadin's. During the 1800's the textile industry in the UK went through "boom and bust" cycles approx. every 10 years. Severe deprivation was common. This drove many to leave the old country for a better life, and the USA was one such destination for the Naden's, Nadin's, Neden's etc.
