Patricia,

Sorry for the late response.

Your info is certainly of interest. Here's what I have, but first a general comment. Everything I have is from the Abstract of Wills of Baltimore Co MD No 14 Page 108. This document transcribes the surname as Nance instead of Nace. But, I believe the correct name is Nace. I'll type everything as it is written.

On Page 108, is the will abstract for Peter The Elder Nance who apparently died 11/13/1827. It lists his wife Tillatha and children George, Mary wife of Henry Backman, Catherine widow of John Shade deceased, Elizabeth wife of Christopher Vaughan, John, Jacob, Ruth Lineweaver wife of George, George, Sarah wife of George Matter, Peter and Margaret wife of Jacob Gittier. Son Peter is the executor and witnesses were Adam Frankfurter, David Houck and Christian Kelbaugh. It is then dated 12/27/1831, so I'm not sure which is Peter's death date.

Looking at the 1830 census, I can find most all of these people and the surname is Nace. I find very few Nance's. Further, my family tie is through daughter Catherine who married John Shade in Baltimore Co., on 6/1/1808. Her name is listed as Nace. John Shade died 6/30/1824 so Catherine would have been a widow when her father Peter died, as the abstract states. So, I'm assuming the original hand writing may have been unclear and the name was transcribed as Nance instead of Nace.

Does any of this ring a bell?

Thanks
Pat
