Dick - Do you have any info on Naber family in Iowa? I'm looking for my mother's birth parents (she passed away in 1991). Here's what I know about my Mom's birth family: Mr. Naber was not born in Iowa, but his wife was apparently an Iowa girl. They must have been married sometime shortly before or right around 1924 because my Mother was born in 1931, and had siblings who were 5 & 6 1/2 at the time of my Mom's adoption. The 5 yr old was a boy and the 6 1/2 yr old was a girl. At the time of my Mom's adoption, Mr. & Mrs. Naber had been divorced for a year, but still living together. Guess by 1932 they'd had enough of each other :)! There was a possibility the boy was going to be adopted, but I don't know about the girl. Also, family rumor has it that my Mother was actually related to her adoptive father, Max Leonhardt of the Amana Colonies in Iowa - that she may have been the daughter of a cousin of Max's. This could make sense since my Mom was born 13 Oct 1931, her adoptive parents filled out the adoption application in Jan of 1932, and by May of 1932 she was placed with them. I think they may have known she was being placed for adoption. I know this is all very vague, and you probably don't have any information, but I'm checking with everyone I can. Thanks for taking time to look at this info.
