Hi Colleen,

I am related to a Donald Macpherson who rented a croft in Balgown (very close to kilmuir)and after he vacated the cfoft it was rented by a Donald MacPhie in 1848/49 and then by his widow in 1853/54. There is also mention of a John Macphie renting the neighbouring croft in 1853/54 (which could be a son?).

There is also mention of a Peter and John Macphie renting a croft in Grealine (Kilmuir) from 1823/24 through to 1838/39.

Do you think these are your MacPhie's?
