I have some info on McNinch's in Livingston County, NY. My Wife is a McNinch. Her family was from Ossian/Dansville area in extreme southern Livingston County. While walking down the graveyards I noticed some with the surname LEMEN:

Tom Lemen: d. 18 JAN 1862; Aged 72y, 2m, 20d

Wife: Jane Lemen: d. 7 SEP 1874; aged 79 y, 4m, 7d

also:

Margaret Lemen: details illegeble

I believe that there were some LYMANs in the area also.
