With help from others, I finally found out that my McNeis family was originally McNinch when they left Scotland/Ireland circa 1768. James McNinch was born 1739 in Ayr Shire Scotland and married ca 1758. They were in Ireland by 1759 when their first daughter, Agnes Nancy was born. Other children born in Ireland were Jean, 1761, Elizabeth, ca 1767. When they got to Cecil Co., Maryland, they had Isabella and then two or three more between Cecil Co. MD and Washington Co., PA. James died in Washington Co., PA ca 1809.
Elizabeth McNeis married Samuel Miller and other girls married into the Lowther family and McKeen. Son James Jr. married Mary Chapman.
I am specifically looking for Richard or Carol Williams who helped me so much in the middle 1990s.
But would also love to hear from others researching this family.
