My dad has a Gaelic Bible given to him through his mother's family.
My dad, Carlton Lever Sligh is the son of
Charlie O'Neal Sligh and Myrtle Martin Freeman.
Myrtle Martin Freeman was the daughter of Ellen Bryant (perhaps Telathia Ellen Bryant) and Duncan Freeman.
Duncan Freeman 1858-1930 was the son of Samuel Freeman 1832-1872 and Margaret Ann McIntyre 1843-1926
We think Margaret Ann McIntyre was the daughter of Duncan McIntyre and Ermalina.
Duncan McIntyre was the son of Charles McIntyre 1760-1826 and Nancy 1765-1850
Charles McIntyre was the son of Christopher McIntyre
In my father's Gaelic Bible the inscriptions hand written read as follows:
"Charles McIntyre was born 15th September in the year of our Lord 1760 and departed this life the 19th Nov? in the year of our Lord 1826 aged 66 yrs 2 months 4 days
"Gilbert McIntyre was found dead the 17th or 16 of December in the year of our Lord 1848 on about that time supposed to enjoy good health ____ ____ to his leading hour
"Ermalina McIntyre consort of Duncan McIntyre son of Charles McIntyre son of Christopher McIntyre departed this life the 10th day of April AD 1855
"Charles McIntyre formerly the proprietor of this Book departed this life the 19th of November in the year of our Lord 1826 being on Sunday morning before Sunrise
"Daniel C McIntyre was born the 12th July in the year of our Lord 1805 and departed this life August 19th in the year of our Lord 1833 about midnight aged 28 years 1 month 7 days
"Nancy McIntyre consort of Charles McIntyre departed this life the 7th of March in the year of our Lord 1870? after the ____ of the 14 or 15 yrs from a severe cough age unknown or supposed? Between 80 or 85 yrs
"Charles McIntyre formerly proprietor of this book landed in America the 12th of November in the year of our Lord 1775"
Then handwritten with a pencil are the names:
D W Freeman
M E Freeman
any help on the McIntyres origins is appreciated - especially the maiden names of Ermalina and Nancy and Christopher's wife's name.
