Larry; the Archibald McIntyre in my family, who lived in Albany and was the comptroller of NY was Presbyterian, as far as I know since his parents were and his funeral was in a Presbyterian church. He married Eliza McDonald whose Dad was a presbyterian minister in Albany, also originally from Kenmore, Pershire, Scotland. As far as I can tell, the Ann Walker, who was the mother of Archibald, (she married Daniel McIntyre) can not possibly be a descendant of Thomas Walker of Kentucky and Virginia. 'Our" Ann Walker was born in Kenmore, Perthshsire, Scotland in 1736( before Thomas married Mildred Meriwether) and came to America with her husband when Archibald was around age 2. The Walkers lived in Kenmore and many of them had simplified their name from a more scots-like "McI.." name. Your Thomas Walker was born in America and his family had been here for awhile-I think they were of English descent. Your Thomas Walker went on to live at Castle Hill Plantation, which still exists not far from my house, and his son-in-law's family, the McIntyre's have a park named after them in my town of Charlottesville. I really don't think that this McIntyre family was closely related to our Archibald McIntrye. Our Archibald WAS involved in the Erie Canal and railroads and , of course, McIntyre Ironworks, and perhaps some of his siblings or cousins were the riverboat people you refer to.ope this helps a little.
