My whole theory on Archibald McIntyre of the McIntyre Iron Works wraps around the Jacob Myers Slate Creek Iron Works in Kentucky. My Myers/Mcintyre/Dunseith/Lewis/Powell family is from Pittsburgh/Mckeesport and according to cemetery and news records, have been in America for a long time. They were for the most part Iron Workers and Riverboat Boat owners and builders.

The main focus on the Myers/McIntyre families seems to be with Oliver Cromwell and Martin Van Buren. Archibald McIntyre served with Martin Van Buren as Commissioners of the Erie Canal Project from 1817 to 1819.

Then Felix Grundy served under President Martin Van Buren as Attorney General of the United States. Felix Grundy had a brother John Grundy who married Elisa McIntyre. Their daughter, Caroline Grundy married William Myers son of Jacob Myers of the Slate Creek Iron Works.

It would seem to me that Elisa McIntyre is connected to Archibald McIntyre in some way. Oliver Cromwell comes into play because Jacob Myers's partner John Cockey Owings is the nephew of Susan Cockey. Susan Cockey is married to Thomas Gist. Thomas Gist's brother is Christopher Gist. Both Thomas and Christopher Gist's grandmother is Edith Cromwell. Edith is the granddaughter of Oliver Cromwell.

Then a Cromwell painted a picture of Archibald McIntyre and some reports that the McIntyer family served as slaves at the Lynn Iron Works in New England because of Oliver Cromwell in the early to mid 1650's.

The next interesting thing is Christopher Gist is a partner with Dr Thomas Walker in the first exploration of Kentucky. Dr Thomas Walker is married to Mildred Meriwether. Their son John Walker is married to Elizabeth Moore who is the granddaughter of Gen Alexander Spotswood.

Then records show Christopher Gist, George Washington and Jacob Myers visited a Native American Woman and her tribe in McKeesport Christmas Eve 1753. The Mckeesport land was given Queen Alliquippa by Peter Jefferson and Joshua Fry in 1751. Peter Jefferson is Thomas Jefferson's father. Some reports show Elizabeth Moore dated Thomas Jefferson. Joshua Fry married Ann Walker who is the daughter of Dr Thomas Walker and Elizabeth Meriwether.

Then Lt Col Leven Powell the second largest landowner in Kentucky is in business with Jacob Myers the largest landowner in Kentucky. Lt Col Lev Powell's granddaughter married into the McIntyres. The Kentucky land was signed over to Jacob Myers including land for the Iron Works by Patrick Henry. Patrick Henry is married to another one of Gov Alexander Spotswood's granddaughters.

My Myers family is listed in Gen Alexander Spotswood's court ordered Will as heirs to the Spotswood Estate in Kentucky. Gen Alexander Spotswood is the great grandson of Gov Alexander Spotswood. Caroline Grundy Myers plus her children and grandchildren are all listed in the Will including my great grandfather who was 5 at the time.

My biggest problem is finding the children of Archibald McIntyre and Eliza McDonald. Although, I believe Eliza McIntyre is a cousin of Archibald McIntyre.

Because of the Gov Alexander Spotswood connection, all these families are more or less related to Gen Robert E Lee. I have records that my family lost their boat business during the Civil War in Pittsburgh because they were related to Gen Robert E Lee.

Cemetery records show a Brown/Booth/Cox/Todd/Sharp family connection with this group. For sure, these families are shipping Iron to Harpers Ferry via Sharpsburg MD before the Civil War.

Last, a Thomas Dye Owings and George Thompson are running the Iron Works in Kentucky in the early 1820's. A Dye Thompson is running the Iron Works at North Elba at about the same time. I don't think this is a coincidence.
