Your information on the McIntyre/John Brown
connection is interesting -- my wife is a direct
descendent of the McIntyres. The family came from Dull, near Kenmore, Perthshire, Scotland to the Province of
New York just prior to the Revolution. Archibald
was born in Scotland. The McIntyres named
the area where they settled Broadalbin, which is
found in Fulton County, New York. Archibald's
father was a teacher and a minister of religion.
Archibald made quite a success of himself. The
McIntyre Range in the Adirondacks is named for him
and - through his policy of strip clearing lumber
and devastating the environment - he actually made
his own (unintended) contribution to the beginning
of the American conservation movement. He made a
lot of money and, presumably, died in possession of
every dime. May he rest in peace.

We'd welcome anything you can share about other McIntyre
descendents. Best wishes.
