MacIntyre/McEntire from Glennoe to Fonda, NY

I found an old letter (written in 1957) in my grandfather's belonging that talks about the MacIntyre clan (The Glennoe Branch) went to the USA in 1790 or so, married there, returned to Glennoe, then finally came back to the USA in 1814 and settled in Fonda, NY. He also mentioned the last news he heard mentioned a grandson, James Wallace (who would be a man now)(as of 1957). Does this sound like familiar to anyone doing MacIntyre research? My clan must have changed their name at some point as far back as the mid 1800's I have "McEntire". I can only trace back to a John Zechariah McEntire born 1818 in PA from what I am told.
Ann
