Solomon McIntire m. 1826 Eunice H. Clark, d/o Joseph Clark and Ann Haynes. At some point he was involved with the Liberty Mill on the Rapidan River. In the 1850 census of Madison Co., VA, he was listed as age 50, birthplace "Washington City, DC".
In 1800 the only McIntire in Washington DC is Samuel McIntire. He is still there in 1820 census, both times with a child of the appropriate age to be Solomon. Samuel was a merchant, around 1820 appointed "inspector of flour". A list of Washington marriages shows a second marriage "McIntire, Samuel & Ruth (Mrs) Lord 30 Jan 1817 Washington Co." A book of newspaper abstracts lists the following item from the Columbian & District Advertiser on Tues. 13 Feb 1827, p. 3 "Died. - On Saturday night last [10 Feb 1827], after a painful and distressing illness of six weeks, which he bore with great patience and fortitude, Mr. Samuel McIntire, of Washington in the 64th year of his age." A 1827 city directory lists "M'Intire, Ruth, widow, boarding house, Pen av".
In 2004, the following unidentified Bible entries were posted to rootsweb by a D. Mann which I quote fully since it seems to very pertinent (http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/MCINTIRE/2004-01/1073174760):

Alexander McIntire was born Dec the 31st 1792
Elizabeth McIntire was born April the 23rd 1794
Sally Justice McIntire was born Nov the 14th 1795
Solomon Hershey McIntire was born May 22nd 1799
Samuel McIntire was born Beby the 23rd 1801
Arthur Lile McIntire was born Sept the 23rd 1802
Caroline Rebeckah McIntire was born May the 24 180(ink blob)
Deaths
Rebeckah McIntire departed this life the 14th of July in the year of our Lord, 1808, Aged 42 years 8 months and 14 days
Elizabeth McIntire departed this life Octr the 30th in the year of our Lord 1795
William Whann McIntire Departed this Life 22 May 1818 At West Point Academy Aged 19 years
Samuel McIntire Departed this life 23 May 1820 Aged nineteen years and three months
I have no other information but thought someone might be able to benefit from this.

It is clear from the facts above that this Bible is clearly that of Samuel McIntire of Washington DC (1763-1827). Also given Solomon's 1850 census entry, this seems to establish his parentage.
Does anybody have any more information about Samuel McIntire and his ancestors?
