McIntire Family Genealogy Forum

Carole, thanks for your work. I found it quite by accident on a Google search. Oliver Vanmeter McIntire was my grandfather. Edward Alexander McIntire was my father; he was actually born in 1918 in Polson, Montana. His mother, Alice, and sisters Virginia and Jean, died in a tragic car-train collision. Edward graduated from Thomas Jefferson High in San Antonio and eventually ended up at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. There he met Helen Fuhr of Galesburg, IL. They married in 1942 while he was in the Army. He served as an infantry captain in World War II and received the Bronze Star. After the war, he returned to Illinois to finish law school. He settled in Kankakee, Illinois in 1947 and remained until his death in 2001. He practiced law until 1977 when he was appointed an Associate Judge, retiring in 1990.
