A biography/family history of Olliver McIntire is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 2.
Oliver was born 23 Sep 1888. His grandfather, Oliver McIntire, was born in Ireland and was an early settler in Indiana. Oliver's father, John Edward McIntire, was born 1859, in Illinois, and lived in Terre Haute, Indiana. For many years he lived in Oakland, Illinois, where he was one of the first to open the great Illinois oil field, west and southwest of Terre Haute, Indiana. John Edward married Elsie Ellen, b. Oakland, IL, 1859, died at Terre Haute, 1917. Children: Jeanette (Mrs. B.C. Kirsch), Terre Haute; Dada E. (Mrs. E.R. Rowan), Pablo, MT; Ada, Terra Haute; Oliver V.; Edward B., Terra Haute; Wanda Alice (Mrs. Maurice Hewett), Terre Haute.
Oliver V. was educated in Oakland, IL and graduated from Oakland high school in 1906. In 1908 he located to Montana and spent seven years as merchandising clerk in a store in Arlee, MT. Moved to Ronan and then to Pablo, MT, where he established the Pablo Mercantile Company, the largest in Missoula County.
In 1912, Arlee, MT, Oliver married Miss Alice A. DeMers, daughter of A.L. and Grace (Lambert) DeMers, one of the best known pioneer families of Montana. A.L. DeMers was born near Montreal and came to Montana in 1874.
McIntire children: Virginia, b. 1913; Jean, b. 1915; Edward Alexander, b. 1919.
Alice D. McIntire died 13 Sep 1925, Age 36, Montana. In the 1930 Federal Census, it appears that O.V. Mcintire, Sue (wife), Ned A. (son born in Montana), and Ada (sister) are living in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, where Oliver is working as an operator of a capometer(?), possibly in the oil business. Brother, Edward B., and father, John, were also living in San Antonio.
