Amos is not related to Micum. He's the grandson of Philip McIntire, Micum's brother/cousin, and another of the Dunbar Scots.

Amos was born about 1720 in Reading, MA (where Philip had settled). He married Sarah Severance on Oct. 29, 1741 in Ipswich, MA. Amos was the second child of Samuel Mcintire and Mary Upton.

Samuel McIntire was Philip McIntire's ninth child (there were ten in all). Samuel was born in Reading about 1682 to Philip McIntire and Mary _____ (surname unknown). Samuel married Mary Upton in reading on Oct. 15, 1704.

Philip, whose origins share the same mystery as Micum's, settled in Reading, MA after his indenture was complete. He is not on the roster as having worked at Hammersmith (Saugus Iron Works), but he probably worked his indenture out nearby, possibly doing something that was associated with or supportive of the irons works operation (cutting wood, growing food for a nearby farmer, etc.). Philip married Mary ___ on Sept. 6, 1666. We don't know her origins or parentage.
