Melissa:

Regarding whether Lowland or Highland Scots fought under David Leslie at the Battle of Dunbar . . . if you want to know about military history, go talk to obsessive enthusiasts. I am not one myself, but I found the following link to a wargames site, where people refight famous battles:

http://www.wargamesjournal.com/pike/dunbar.asp

This particular games site is for Dunbar. The article that helps gamers set up to play out that battle lists which Scottish horse and foot regiments were present at the battle. It notes that there were Highlanders among the foot regiments.

The "Marquis of Argyle's Regiment" is present. The "Marquis" was Archibald Campbell, the chief of Clan Campbell and a stalwart of the Protestant Covenant. The regiment is probably where Micum, Philip and Robert MacIntyre were, if we assume they were from Argyll.

Also listed is "Colonel John Innes' Regiment," which may well be the regiment my other Dunbar ancestor, Alexander Innes, was with. They were from up near Angus.

There are quite a few other foot regiments listed (there were 16,000 infantry, after all). Have a look and see if anything looks right for Engram.
