I'm trying to find out about the ancestry of Peter and Mary McIntire and Ann Masterson McIntire. Mary McIntire was my great grand-father Michael FitzSimmons' godmother in 1847. Ann Masterson was my great grand-auntBridget FitzSimmons' godmother in 1850. Both in Boston. I have found record of a marriage of a Peter McIntire to an Ann Masterson in Boston in 1851. My working assumption is that Mary and Peter McIntire are brother and sister, and that the Ann Masterson who married Peter McIntire is Bridget's godmother. The celebrant was Fr. Terence FitzSimmons of South Boston. On April 17, 1847, an ad appeared in the "missing friends" column of the Boston Pilot, "Information wanted -- of John Masterson, who sailed from Liverpool for Boston or New York on the 1st of February. He is seventeen years old, and is a native of Coothill, co. Cavan. His two sisters, Anne and Catharine, are anxious to hear from him. They can be found by applying at 86 Eliot St., Boston, Ms." As Owen FitzSimmons, the father of Michael and Bridget, lived at 86 Eliot St. in 1847, and at various addresses elsewhere on the street betwen 1840 and 1865, this ad was probably placed by the Ann Masterson who was Bridget's godmother.
