My grandfather was Fred Earl McEntire (9/25/1885 ~ 8/22/1980) who was born near Falls Creek, Jefferson County, PA. A graduate of Penn State and captain of the basketball team in 1911, he was the son of Jennie Porterfield McEntire (12/2/1860 ~ 7/19/1903). Fred lived in Lock Haven, PA, most of his life and worked for the Pennsylvania Power & Light Company. His mother delegated guardianship to James Creighton McEntire, his grandfather, when Fred was a young boy. Jennie was buried in the Reynoldsville,PA, cemetery. Rev. James C. McEntire was the son of Edward and Isabel Bathurst McEntire. He was born in Centre County, PA, near Bellefonte on June 21, 1831. His father was a Catholic, born in Ireland, who came to the US at age 18 and served as a bookeeper and filler for Roland Curtin in the Curtin Iron Works of Centre County. He lived to be 85 years of age. Edward's father spent his entire life in Ireland, dying in County Donegal. His mother was a Methodist born on a farm near Bellefonte, the daughter of Lord Lawrence Bathurst of England, a descendant of the Earl of Bathurst, who came to the New World and served as an American soldier throughout the Revolutionary War. James had four sisters and two brothers. I have more and anxious to share with any potential relative.

Wayne Shaffer Myers, Jr.
