Macauslan Family Genealogy Forum

I am looking for a connection to the Clan MacAuslan of Scotland. My Ancestor, Richard McAshan owned land in Buckingham C.. VA. circa 1715. He died there in 1804. His Grandchildren, sons of Nemamiah McAshan changed the spelling to its present day McShan. According to the Dictionary of Surnames the original spelling was "MacAuslan" The MacAuslan Clan had a name change by Absolmn MacAuslan in the 16-17th Century to Buchanan. The Clan originally came from the Lochlommond area of Stirlingshire area. They own an Island in Lochlommond presented to them by the Earl of Lennox. The Island is called Clar Innis or sometimes Clarinich. If you know of any connection to MacAuslan-McAshan-McShan I would appreciate hearing from you.
