Macauley, Matheson and Smith

My great grandfather was named John MaCauley Matheson. His mother was Annie Smith Matheson and his father Norman Matheson. Does anyone know of any Macauley and Mathesons marrying in the 1800's? I was wondering why his middle name was Macauley and this may explain it.
