hello jean. Last year the history club and I went on a tour of all the old battlefields that the zulus, boers and british fought on.One paticular battle caught my eye, im not to sure what it was called(damn,i should have been listening) but anyway it was when the british were hiding in a hospital(i think)and a whole lot of zulus attacked it but the british held out and actually won.If memory serves me correctly George Mabin fought in that one.I think he was awarded some medal of bravery for that.On the tour we went to some museum and I was browsing by and a particular man caught my eye its was George W Mabin(he was rather fat)but at the time i never thought i could be related. But yesterday i asked my dad and he said that he was my great great grandpa.About my side of the family- -welll theres my grandpa, Goerge mabin(rather rich)his wife died a couple of years ago. -he had 3 children 1 of them being my dad(derek mabin)and my grandpa also adopted. -I dont really know much but all the mabins I know they all live in jhb except for me my mom,dad and 2 sisters and we live in durban. -By the way we also used to live in capetown in the bellville area,Where do u live in capetown. annyway ive gotta go. here is my email mabind@freemail.absa.co.za byebye. p.s,i never kew the mabin family was so big.
