Maberry/Mayberry in Allen or Putnam Counties, OH

Looking for information on an Alexander J. Maberry (or Mayberry) b. 1849 d. 1875, buried Campbell Cemetery, Allen Co, OH.

Alexander was my gg-grandfather. He may have been of English origin, as I have found evidence that my grandmother, Rosa Dale Maberry was born Sept 7, 1872 in Widdrington, Northumberland, England. Her birth certificate cites Alexander J. Maberry and Amanda B. Light as parents.

I have no knowledge of Alexander and Amanda's ancestry, nor when and where they were married.

On the other hand, Alexander and Amanda may have been in England temporarily when Rosa was born, as an elder son Delmar(or Delamar) V. Maberry had been born July 4, 1871 in Allen Co., OH.

The nature of my inquiry deals not only with genealogical interest, but with interest as to the causes of Alexander, Rosa, and Delmar's death at early ages.

Delmar apparently died at 15 months of age, and is also buried in Campbell Cemetery.

Alexander died at age 26. His wife Amanda later married a Michael Wells.

My g-grandmother Rosa died in 1895 at age 23. She had married my g-grandfather William H. Wallace, and gave birth to my grandfather Roy Luverne Wallace in 1891, and his sister Dortha in 1893.

My g-grandmother is buried in Rockport Cemetery, Monroe TWP, Allen County, OH, as Rosa (Wells) Wallace. Whether Rosa was legally adopted by Michael Wells before her death is unknown.

It appears that Alexander may have used the surnames of Maberry and Mayberry interchangibly. He and Delmar are both buried as Mayberry's.

Any information on these persons or families would be sincerely appreciated.

Best regards,
Bill Wallace
