I’ve updated the Descendants of William Mabe-8 Generations on-line book. It’s located at: http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/m/a/b/James-E-Mabe/?Welcome=1082326171. Thanks to Jim Carpenter, I was able to expand the family of Sophrona Mabe, daughter of Reuben Mabe or David Mabe of Hawkins County, Tennessee. Also Charles Brooks, through his research of the Hawkins County records, has tied the family of Frankey Mabe who is located in the 1850 Hawkins County census records, to the William Brooks family, his direct line. She (her name on the license was Frances Mayab), married William Brooks and before the 1860 census their last names were changed to Brooks. I also added his information on Frankey’s descendants. Charles also gave me an article about his cousin Robert Huston Brooks that he co-authored. It’s named “Robert Huston Brooks Musician, Composer, Publisher, Teacher, and Minister of Music”. It’s a combination piece containing a musical history of eastern Tennessee and the genealogy of the Brooks family with emphasis on Robert Huston Brooks. You can find it in the Contents section. There has been some discussion about the families of Reuben and David Mabe’s Hawkins County families on the Mabe Genforum recently. As result of these discussions I made some changes to their families within the book. Early on I merged the family information in the David Mabe 1850 Hawkins County TN census with the David Mabe in the 1860 White County TN. I assumed, incorrectly, that these were the same families and the 1850 Hawkins County TN census-taker made an error with their ages. I have redirected the 1850 Hawkins County TN David Mabe family to a David Mabe, the son of Robert Mabe, Sr. The only record for this David Mabe is the law suit against the children of Robert Mabe, Sr. that was filed in Stokes County. I added these children to him with some reservations and state so within the NOTES FOR David Mabe. This past week, I responded to a Charles Brooks posting on the Mabe FORUM that explains the reason why I assigned Reuben Mabe’s children to him through the use of census records since there is no direct evidence like a will, etc. that tie most of his early children to him. As always I welcome any of your comments, suggestions, clarifications, and corrections. Jim Notify Administrator about this message?
